When Kateřina Neumannová finally decided to have a chalet built in Zadov, she had an image of a Šumava-style chalet. Architects enthusiastically agreed with her idea, and for them it represented a wonderful chance to get back to the roots, to the tradition of building. Even the selected meadow on a steep slope seemed to offer the possibility - whilst using current technology - of building a house which did not try to dominate or grab attention at any price, but which appeared natural.
That which the house took away from the hillside, it incorporated in itself so that the story of the location could continue. This memory is the interior, fragrant and warm with timber, which gives a natural and pleasant impression with a little humour and overstatement, represented here, for example, by the illustrated verses of Emanuel Frynta in the corridors, or the naming of apartments and the other parts of the chalet. Every detail is redolent of the human hand, a return to traditions in the work of Czech craftsmen - carpenters, blacksmiths and stove fitters who managed to combine the basic natural materials skilfully, and everywhere there is an evident interest in comfort and cosiness.
I spent a lot of my life in the Šumava region, and I am connected to it by a life-long love. When I managed to complete my chalet, a stylish building located in the natural Šumava landscape and offering great comfort and a family background, and when I also brought back gold medals from the World Championships and the Olympic Games, I achieved my life’s dream. Come and visit.
You will enjoy a pleasant stay in an enchanting environment, and you will definitely want to return.
Yours Katka Neumannová
